- College Major: Oriental Studies
- P&G Location: Switzerland
- Year Hired: 2008
- Department: Brand Management & Marketing
- Job Title: Assistant Brand Manager
How would you describe P&G's work environment and culture?
I find the culture very supportive. There is quite a strong hierarchy, but having said that, a lot of respect is given to the opinions of new hires. As an assistant brand manager I am recognized as being the closest to the consumer, so I'm required to speak first at meetings, for example, when evaluating a TV ad with senior management. This is a bit intimidating at first, but it really helps empower you to take ownership of your business.
What was your hiring process like?
After applying, P&G invited me to a “24-hour challenge”. Recruiters came to Cambridge and ran maths and English tests, followed by three interviews, all within 24 hours. I was then offered an internship, after which I was offered a permanent position. I thought the 24-hour challenge was brilliant as it was such a pain going back and forth to London all the time for interviews. And waiting to hear back was never fun either. This way, it was all done and dusted in a day, and, what's more, P&G came to me. I really felt that they understood my needs.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement at work?
I recently led the relaunch of my brand in a country where we had been in decline for the past three years. The relaunch began a month ago and we're getting positive results. It's great to see something I worked on appearing in market and having a significant impact on the business.
